Three simple words

Now

There are approximately 7 billion people on earth at the time of this writing. Some are happy, some are sad. Some are healthy, some are sick. Some are wealthy, some are poor. But, there is one thing in common amongst all of us, we are all breathing living beings travelling through the passage of time from one day to another. Looking back, there are some things that stick to our minds more than others such as moments of great joy or terrible sadness. Then there are those moments when we look around us and sense that things are not the way they're meant to be. We can sense that something is broken. Many of us would know that particular nasty individual that always seems to be having a great time, or a generous kind individual who has the worst kind of life to deal with. We might even have experienced the effect of this brokenness first hand when some kind of injustice is done to us, or by us.

The bad news: the world is broken indeed. It needs fixing.

The good news: it is in the process of being fixed by the one who started it all.

God, the name of the one who started the entire universe is a living being, all powerful and good. Everything was good when God orchestrated them into existence.

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. ... - Genesis 1:31a

But God was not without a foe. Satan saw what God had put together and he decided to break it. So he did. Everything is broken, including all human beings and their descendants. No longer can any individual can be found perfectly pure as God requires them to be.

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, - Romans 3:23

Since then, the fatal inherent shortcoming in us all causes our nature to despise God. Instead we desire to do what pleases us, in contrast to what pleases God. This brings a terrible judgment on us.

And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, - Hebrews 9:27

There is absolutely no way out. Everyone will be found guilty by God.

However, God himself provided one way out. He took the punishment on Himself as Jesus Christ and offered it to us so that those who accept His way out will have their guilt and sinful shortcomings completely cleared and forgiven. Those who have truly accepted Jesus into their lives know how amazing it is to be forgiven of their sins and given the promise of eternal lives for their souls in heaven.

The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. - John 1:9-13

What will our response be to God's offer? What will your response be?

Then

After death, comes judgment. Those who took up God's offer of salvation will be spared from punishment. Those who refused will have forgoned the only chance they had of salvation, they will be punished for any sin they have in them.

Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. - Matthew 25:41

And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. - Matthew 25:46

And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. - Revelation 20:15

They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might - 2 Thessalonians 1:9

Three words

For those who have rejected God's offer of salvation that He offered to them through Jesus Christ, they will suffer forever. Every moment will be filled with anguish, perhaps sadness and regret - regret that they rejected Jesus because what Jesus offered did not seem attractive to them, because it sounded too simple for them, because they failed to take it seriously, because they loved other personal pleasures more than the joy of following Jesus, or any other reason. Every moment they will realise that there is no longer any way out. It will be too late, the window of opportunity will have been closed forever. Every moment will be filled with tears. Every moment will be filled with a desperate longing for three simple words that will never come: "You are forgiven".

If you are a true follower of Jesus Christ who obey Him and always seek to please Him, cherish those three simple words, because God has completely wiped away your sins through the punishment that He took on the cross on your behalf. Be glad and thank God deeply from your heart because "You are forgiven".
